1. What is your role at VFN? What do you do specifically?
I’m the VFN Baby Groups Coordinators’ Liaison, which means I’m the first point of contact for all baby group coordinators, including recruiting them, opening the groups, and acting as the link between them and the Steering Committee, which I’m part of. I also support the Flea Market team as a Sponsorship Manager, where I find sponsors for our bake sale and Café!
2. What inspired you to start volunteering at VFN? What have you learned/gained personally from this experience?
When I went on maternity leave for my first child, I was still pregnant, no baby yet, and since I’ve always been a bit of a workaholic, I found myself asking, “What do I do now?” That’s when I came across the VFN. I was part of another organization supporting women’s careers, whose President had previously been the VFN President. I didn’t want to be “just Mom” for the next several months, so I decided to volunteer right from the moment I became a member!
Vienna offers so many kids’ concerts, and I tend to enjoy them just as much!
It turned out so much better than I expected: a “fill the time” activity became a meaningful, fulfilling part of my life in Vienna. While many jobs teach you to collaborate and communicate with different personalities and nationalities, at the VFN the shared purpose and sense of community help you master these skills with a bit of grace too! I’ve also discovered a passion for sponsorships, something totally unrelated to my day job, but so exciting and rewarding!
3. A fun fact about me that most people in the VFN might not know?
I am a HUGE F1 fan since I was a child! If there is a meet-up or an event on a Sunday clashing with a race – you’ll probably see my husband with the kids there and I‘d likely miss the event 😉
4. What is your favorite spot in Vienna? (cafe, museum, for family, etc)
I love both Albertinas and always try to catch every exhibition there! I love both Albertinas and always try to catch every exhibition there! We also take both kids to lots of musical performances since they both absolutely love music, and “when in Rome…” Vienna offers so many kids’ concerts, and I tend to enjoy them just as much! For good food: Qero, Salon Plafond, Chez Bernard, and the many great Asian restaurants around the Naschmarkt!
5. What do you love about Vienna and/or VFN?
Vienna is an accessible, smaller capital with all the perks of a metropole! VFN is a colorful, vibrant and knowledgeable family feeling away from home!
