Groups, Volunteers and Member businesses are the backbone of the VFN organization. To achieve a smooth management of all three parts, there are dedicated volunteers patiently answering your questions, establishing new groups, creating guidelines, amongst many, many other actions to make the VFN valuable and enjoyable for every member big and small. Let’s take a closer look who these people are behind the scenes and what exactly they are doing:
Groups: Betty, Julia, Rita
Betty and Rita are your VFN Baby Group Liaisons. They are behind the scenes ensuring that new baby groups can get started throughout the year. Baby groups are often members’ first point of interaction with VFN and in order to ensure a great experience, they are spending their evenings and spare time coordinating the launch of six new groups every year! Each of these volunteers has two active kids of their own and come from international backgrounds. They truly appreciate the importance that a group of supportive individuals brings when starting and growing a family. Julia, Social & District Groups Liaison, facilitates the start and continuation of our social, language and district groups as well as our babysitting circles. She is the main point of contact for more than 50 group coordinators who offer members the possibility to meet and share their interests or find friends close by in their own neighborhood. New groups are frequently added as members join or have a topic that is not yet offered.
Volunteers: Erin
Erin is a long-time VFN member and active volunteer herself before she took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator. This role encompasses the dual challenges of finding and maintaining willing volunteers amongst all VFN members. There is frequent communication with Julia to either find a new or replace an existing volunteer as children grow up, international moves happen and lifestyles change. Last, but not least, the Volunteer Coordinator takes care to highlight the dedication of our “heavy” volunteers including the VFN Steering Committee.
Member businesses: Katy
Katy is currently developing the new role of Member Business Coordinator. Acting as the go between for Members and Member Businesses, Katy aims to help promote and support our member businesses whilst helping the VFN community as a whole and working together to raise money for our Charity of the Year. The role also involves managing the monthly Notices, member business Newsletters, and member business related social media.
