Eligibility
Membership is obtained through application, payment of the membership fee and registration in the VFN database. Upon successful payment and registration, a welcome e-mail will be sent to the applicant.
Membership is available to all parents with an international background that reside in Vienna and/or its surrounding areas, who wish to become a part of an English-speaking social network that provides support for its members.
Membership is only open to parents. Only members can attend meetings. It is therefore not acceptable for anyone else (such as a child-minder) to attend a meeting on behalf of a member.
Being a member
VFN aims to reduce its carbon footprint and contact members in a cost-effective and sustainable way. Notwithstanding opt-out rights under data protection legislation, members agree to be contacted by electronic means as the primary mode of contact. If a member prefers not to receive any communication (other than Annual General Meeting (AGM) proceedings, which there is a legal obligation to share) the member can update their preferences by logging in to the members-only section of the website.
Family membership
Parents of the same child need only pay one family membership but each must register separately, providing a different contact email address. Each is a member in their own right, and each will have one vote in any matters before the AGM
Annual General Meetings
Every member has a right to attend and vote in the VFN AGM. VFN will contact members about the AGM proceedings in accordance with its legal obligations.
Cancellation terms
It is possible to receive a refund for the membership fee within 45 days of joining if the applicant is no longer residing in or near Vienna, is no longer pregnant, or is otherwise unable to take advantage of VFN’s offerings. Please contact for more information.
Termination of membership
Membership is for an unlimited period, but membership can cease if the member requests it. Please contact for more information.
Membership can be revoked for conduct that is in conflict with VFN’s objectives or interests. This is a significant step and may only be undertaken by the Executive Committee with the agreement of the Steering Committee.
