To better attend to the needs of the different age groups within our VFN school community, a new VFN Secondary school group was added to the list of available groups. Thank you Robyn and Jovita for taking on the role of coordinators and sharing your plans with us below.
VFN Primary School Group
Dear Parents of Primary School-Aged Children!
The existing VFN School Group will now be known as the “VFN Primary School Group – Volkschule”. This group will be focusing on the issues and needs of children attending primary/elementary school in Austria. Join our community where you can be informed, share info, organize events, or rave/rant about those first academic steps our children take.

VFN Secondary School Group
Welcome to the NEW VFN Secondary School Group!
In light of our ever expanding and enhanced VFN, I had the idea to extend our current school group for families with kids 10-16 years. Each year, many families move to Vienna in search of new friends and the VFN can be a place to welcome them, even for families with older children. As we are a volunteer organization, it is up to the members to come up with fun ideas for the kids and families. I am hoping that in addition to the admin’s ideas, we will have many parents who will also organize events so the kids (and parents!) can interact and make new friendships. Some ideas might include museum visits, theater days, minigolf, climbing parks, picnics, etc. We can also think of ways for the kids to meet online to play games like Kahoot and other games that interest them.
We will stay connected to the Primary School Group and work with them on certain events as well as coordinating annual Primary and Secondary School info sessions to help parents learn more about the Viennese school system and the many options.
